Transport

Barnsley is at the heart of South Yorkshire and is a gateway to the rest of God’s own county. The town centre is minutes from the M1 at junction 37 with fast access to Sheffield and Leeds, and just a short hop over the Pennines from Manchester and Liverpool. The area is home to a number of distribution centres who have found the road connectivity to the M1, A1 and M62 to be perfect for their needs.

Barnsley connects to Sheffield (20 minutes) and Leeds (40 minutes) via direct train links, and onwards via these mainline stations to London (just over 2 hours), Birmingham, Manchester, Manchester Airport, Bristol, East Midlands Parkway, Newcastle, York, Edinburgh and Glasgow plus many more locations.

Doncaster train station can be reached within a 30 minute drive or via local train services putting you within 2 hours of London via the East Coast mainline, and onwards to mainland Europe via Eurostar.

Within a 90 minute drive you can reach regional airports at East Midlands, Leeds Bradford, Hull and Doncaster plus the main northern hub of Manchester Airport connecting Barnsley with Europe and beyond.

Barnsley’s busy transport interchange connects train and bus services across the local and regional areas. If you’re bringing your company to Barnsley then we can help you to explore the services available to help your employees get to you quickly and easily. We can help broker discussions where new services are needed and connect you with local authority departments and partners to help answer any questions you might have about access if you’re looking at a development site.
