Town Centre
Barnsley town centre is the main hub of the area, with indoor and outdoor markets, a range of independent and high street stores plus cafes, coffee shops, bars and restaurants. Easy access to the rest of borough and the cities of Wakefield, Sheffield, Leeds and Nottingham plus neighbouring towns is provided by the landmark transport interchange and the town centre is just a few minutes by road from the M1 with ample parking available.
A range of business premises are available across the town centre from serviced offices to incubation spaces, to retail units and market stalls. You can search using our Property Search tool to find available places and spaces.
A Premier Inn hotel is housed within the contemporary Gateway Plaza mixed use development providing accommodation across 110 rooms in the heart of the town centre. The Plaza includes 25,000 sq ft of retail space, 188 residential apartments, a 550 space multi-story carpark and 96,000 of Grade A offices.
The town centre has benefitted from a multi-million pound infrastructure investment over the last decade improving the public spaces and providing a home for creative and digital businesses within the Digital Media Centre; a new cultural hub within the former Civic Theatre; a stylish and accessible transport interchange and an improved town hall and adjacent gardens. Future projects include new markets facilities and improvement to the town centre retail offer.
