Things to do
Barnsley is a big place with plenty going on. If you’re a heritage fan then there’s a wealth of destinations for you; if you’re into contemporary culture then the art galleries, theatres and music venues will whet your appetite. Sports fans can enjoy the facilities across the borough or watch the mighty reds aka Barnsley FC in action at Oakwell. If you’re the outdoors type, the Trans Pennine Trail runs across Barnsley taking in a host of different places and terrain and is ideal for cyclists and walkers. Twitchers can find their natural habitat at the renowned Old Moor RSPB centre in the heart of the Dearne Valley.
