Civic and Mandela gardens

The refurbishment of the Grade 2 listed Civic combines past and present to help shape an exciting new future and a fabulous new shopping, leisure and cultural experience. The sheer size and scale of the emerging new structure at the rear of the building gives a clue to the fundamental changes that the expansion will deliver. The three floors will encompass design-led retail such as furniture and jewellery, the Council's one stop information service, Barnsley Connects, a new home for the Design Centre displaying regular exhibitions and the brand new Assembly Room which will function as a gallery, performance and conference space.
