Barnsley markets project

The Barnsley markets project, the largest regeneration project ever undertaken in the Borough, will see new retail and leisure facilities emerging with a purpose built markets building. The outdoor stall area will be covered by a huge curving glazed roof supported by a three level indoor area which will offer visitors to the markets a wide range of products including quality food produce, from meat and fish to fruit, vegetables and flowers. The glazed roof will also provide an external entertainment location which will be a venue for year-round performances and other events.

In addition to offering a new purpose built and quality home for Barnsley's famous markets it will also bring restaurants and bistros, a brand new department store, multiplex cinema, several levels of shops and town centre apartments. It will provide Barnsley people with an exciting place to shop, socialise and be entertained, linked strongly to the rest of the town centre.
