The new Digital Media Centre, located in the heart of Barnsley’s town centre, offers a home for creative and digital businesses in a supportive and nurturing setting for start-up business through to relocating businesses.  The stone and copper clad building provides state of the art space for fledgling and growing businesses ranging in size from 1-2 person ‘workpods’ at 80 sq.ft. through to 1160 sq.ft. office for more established companies. The centre also offers high spec meeting rooms and conference facilities which can be hired, along with a fully equipped ‘brainstorming’ room, internet café and technical showcase which can be utilised by occupants of the building to show their work in various forms.

Barnsley Business and Innovation Centre (BBIC) supports the development of innovative technology businesses and has assisted over 200 companies. It is home to world leading companies such as Side Effects, a leading edge multi-media post-production facility, which has achieved Apple accreditation; and Design and Image Works, marketing, photographers, art directors, designers, copywriters and print production specialists, who have recently completed work for ASDA, P&G UK and DCC Limited.

Networking

Creative Barnsley is a network linking creative individuals, organisations and businesses in the Barnsley borough, enabling them to access new opportunities and business locally, regionally and nationally. At the hub of the business is an ongoing programme of networking events providing an opportunity for artists and those working in the creative industries to meet and exchange ideas and contacts. Alongside the physical networking, the current www.creativebarnsley.co.uk site will be further developed to support more online networking. Brokerage of creative services through Creative Barnsley will also form a core part of the business as they endeavour to link creative service providers to clients, together with the provision of studio space.
