Visitors of the new Civic will be able to enjoy three floors of design and craft shops, an exhibition area and an event centre, bringing together shopping, social events and performances all under one roof. The original Grade 2 listed structure and many of the original features of this proud Victorian building will be preserved and this unique development brings together the many creative elements that exist in the town to foster arts, crafts and other complementary industries. As well as being the hub for visual and performing arts, it will also provide access to the councils one stop shop information service, Barnsley Connects.
