BY ROAD
The town has excellent access to the national motorway network with Junction 37 of the M1 located only 1½ miles to the west of the town centre and Junctions 36 and 38 also serving the Barnsley Borough.

BY RAIL
Barnsley has frequent passenger services to mainline stations at Sheffield, Wakefield and Doncaster. London can be reached in 90 minutes. Major freight terminals are situated at nearby Doncaster and Wakefield, which run frequent services through the Channel Tunnel to mainland Europe.

BY AIR
There are five international airports within 60 minutes drive of Barnsley.Manchester International Airport serves over 150 international destinations, including North America (daily flights), Europe (regular daily flights), Asia and the Middle East (daily flights). Major airlines serving Manchester International Airport include: British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, US Airways, Singapore Airlines and BMI.

Robin Hood Doncaster Sheffield, Leeds Bradford, Nottingham East Midlands and Humberside Airports have direct daily flights within the British Isles, and to many European destinations and connections worldwide.

The excellent Humberside International Ports are within 60 minutes drive from Barnsley.They are accessible 24 hours a day and the new deepwater international cargo terminal makes worldwide port sailings possible. From the Humberside Ports some 170 million European customers are accessible within 24 hours through ports in Germany, the Netherlands, Scandinavia and the Baltic Sea Region.
