Town Centre WiFi
Barnsley's shops, cafes, bars and market is now WiFi enabled, with the free service available across the whole town centre for anyone with a laptop, phone or other device to use free of charge.
Barnsley Council has been working with AWTG Ltd to install a public access network which was at no cost to the Council and will operate for a minimum of 2 years. It's hoped that the ability to access free WiFi will attract shoppers into Barnsley town cente and that it will encourage people to use the internet to see the benefits that this could have to their everyday lives.
Access will be strongest in outdoor areas, and requires registration and agreement to standard terms and conditions. Free WiFi is also available in many cafes and bars, and the Digital Media Centre has free visitor WiFi available too. Just ask at reception for an access code.
