Barnsley Caretaking Services Ltd has recently been established thanks to help from the Social Enterprise Barnsley (SEB) team.

Barnsley Caretaking Services Ltd carry out a wide range of garden services such as tree and hedge clipping, lawn maintenance and general tidying and preparation. In addition they also offer a holiday security service, where they will check on your property three times a week and carry out garden maintenance while you are on holiday, which should hopefully deter burglars.

The new service has been set up by Roy Taylor and Ralph Denton who have years of experience providing gardening and general handyman skills and were both unemployed when they were introduced to SEB’s Individual Opportunity Advisors (IOA’s). The IOA’s work across Barnsley helping local people back into employment, training and education by offering free and confidential professional advice.

As Barnsley Caretaking Services grows they are looking to provide training opportunities to local unemployed residents and will be working with the IOA’s to help achieve this. They are also committed to ensuring that their services are available to everyone so they will be setting aside a proportion of their time for ‘community jobs’ for local residents who are unable to do such work themselves and cannot afford to pay full price for the services.

Social Enterprise Barnsley have helped the business get off the ground by assisting in the production of business plans, company registration and access to available grant funding. Joint partner Roy Taylor adds, “ We would like to thank the SEB team for their advice and guidance in starting up our business and providing us with funding towards the formation of the company and for marketing materials."
