8. Town Hall Gardens

This project seeks to secure a major improvement to the garden frontage of the Town Hall. Importantly, this major Public Realm scheme will also provide the site and setting for a major public art feature known as the 'Mining Art Feature'.

The work is due to start in early 2006 and will involve removing all the existing planting, paving and walls before reating a new garden with retaining walls, steps and raised beds. Using high quality natural materials for paving and walling a sense of enclosure will be created surrounded by trees and colourful, aromatic seasonal planting.
