EMPLOYMENT SCHEME PROVES ITS SUCCESS

The Full Employment Area Pilot (FEAP) has proven to be a tremendous success at getting people who have been out of work for some time, back into employment. With a team of four people the FEAP have helped over sixty people back into work and stay there.

The small team have targeted every household in Kendray and Thurnscoe knocking on the doors of more than 6,000 houses to inform residents of the service and the one to one support that the team can offer to anyone wishing to find employment. The team provide a broad range of support to registered customers and work with individuals to address any perceived barriers that may be excluding them from the jobs market.


The teams Community Employment Adviser, Constance Grayson adds, “Many local people have changed their lives for the better, just by picking up the phone to call us or dropping in at one of our venues.”

Andrew Turk is one of FEAP recent success stories he adds, “Having been out of work for 5 years and losing count of the rejection letters I received, I felt as though I was on the scrap heap at 38. But then I found out about the Full Employment team. They did job searches and sent applications forms off, all at no cost to me, and I am very pleased to say that I am now back in gainful employment and its all down to the team that I got myself sorted and my self respect back.”

The pilot is being championed by Barnsley Development Agency’s Community Economic Regeneration Team in partnership with Barnsley and Rotherham Action Team for Jobs and has been financed by Objective One and the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund.
