BARNSLEY MILLER PARTNERSHIP TO DEVELOP 11 ACRE INDUSTRIAL SCHEME

Barnsley Miller Partnership and Yorkshire Forward are looking to attract millions of pounds of investment to Barnsley, South Yorkshire after launching a prime 11-acre development site.

The site near Grimethorpe, to be known as Conquest Point, already has planning permission for up to 9,300 sq m (100,000 sq ft) of industrial development. The site is part of Park Springs, a new 100 acre location for business in Barnsley.

David Hodgson of Barnsley Miller says: “This site is in an excellent location with access to a large, multi-skilled labour pool and it also benefits from a new link road between the A1 and M1”.

“We are looking for design and build options and expect to attract interest from major multi-national companies with large-scale distribution or warehouse requirements. We have the flexibility of being able to offer either freehold or leasehold terms and the benefit of a £25 million investment by Yorkshire Forward and English Partnerships in providing new infrastructure to the site”

Ian Bramley, Head of South Yorkshire for Yorkshire Forward said:

“The develpment of Park Springs on the former Grimethorpe colliery site will benefit from the infrastructure work which has been carried out in the surrounding areas, extending accessibility in and around the Dearne Valley and helping local people to benefit from the jobs available on the new development.

Conquest Point benefits from South Yorkshire’s Objective 1 designation meaning that it attracts the highest level of support from Europe. There are substantial levels of public sector funding available to assist companies relocating to the region, with inward investment a particular target.
