BARNSLEY’S BEEHIVE BUILDING BUZZES BACK INTO BUSINESS
Excitement builds in Barnsley as stylish new restaurant, bar and shopping complex opens on Tuesday 16 October

The people of Barnsley are in for a treat this week as the stylish new shopping and eating complex at The Whitworth Buildings officially opens.
The former 18th Century warehouse buildings at George Yard have been renovated to accommodate a range of retail shops and a café bar called “Lucorum” - meaning English Bumble Bee.
Lucorum contains unique designs by nationally renowned designers Mark Brazier Jones and Danny Lane, and first impressions when entering the café could lead you to believe you’re in the heart of Barcelona, not Barnsley.
Barnsley Development Agency, Barnsley MBC and Yorkshire Forward worked together providing a pivotal role in the successful completion of the project, providing support and guidance in the early stages of the development, including advice on funding.
The Mayoress of Barnsley will officially open the complex at 2.00pm on Tuesday 16 October 2001.
There will be a special preview of the complex for the press at 1.00pm on Monday 15 October 2001.
