CARLTON GOES GREEN

The Green Business Park Programme established by the Groundwork Trust is carrying out enhancement work on several industrial areas throughout the region, including Carlton Industrial Estate in Barnsley.

The project aims to boost local jobs and promote a cleaner environment. The project received funding from Yorkshire Forward and Groundwork is working with North Barnsley Partnership and the Barnsley Development Agency.

Megan Remmer of Groundwork adds, “Work is now underway on the improvement process at Carlton which includes litter picking and general tidying. After the work is completed we hope to expand the project and work with businesses and the local community to provide a safer cleaner environment for local industry to grow in.”

Andy Arnold, Chief Executive of North Barnsley Partnership commented, “ I think this is a great opportunity to enhance the aesthetic appearance of the Industrial Estate. This will raise the profile of the area and boost private and public sector confidence”.

Andrew Ainsworth of Barnsley Development Agency adds “BDA would like to thank Groundwork and North Barnsley Partnership for their contribution to the Green Business Park initiative that will further enhance Carlton as an attractive location for business”
