LIDGET CONCRETE CEMENT FUTURE EXPANSION IN THURNSCOE


Thurnscoe based company Lidget Concrete are to further expand their operations with the building of two 6000 sq ft industrial units.



Since the formation of the company 14 years ago the family run business, owned by Bob and Diane Nutt, now employs some 60 people from the local area in their modern production plant developing state of the art garages. The growth of the company has resulted in the recent completion of a commercial vehicle service centre, adjacent to the main site, to service its expanded fleet of lorries.

Following the purchase of land from Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council (BMBC) and Ashtenne, the two new industrial units are just the first part of further expansion due to take place. There is much interest in this current development and Lidget Concrete have been in discussions with several companies keen to discuss leasing of the new premises.

With the assistance of officers representing Barnsley Development Agency the company has purchased an additional four acres of land from BMBC on which further phased developments will take place over the next few months. Such developments will lead to the welcome creation of further jobs in the local area.

John Kendrick, General Manager, confirmed the future looked good, not only for Lidget Concrete but for the workforce and suppliers in the Dearne. He explained, "we are pleased with the progress we are making with the new units and happy to be facilitating the relocation of other local companies which will be of benefit to the local people and a boost for the local economy."
