BARNSLEY AT FOREFRONT OF SOCIAL ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT


Social Enterprise Barnsley recently played host to West Yorkshire Social Enterprise Link. SEB were able to show their neighbours from West Yorkshire how they have brought about a big increase in the number of new social enterprises being developed and how this part of the Barnsley economy was booming, bringing new jobs and wealth.



Barnsley is one of the few areas with a dedicated team of business advisers working with local voluntary and community groups to develop social enterprises. By sharing best practice and exchanging experiences both teams were able to develop new ideas and ways of working.

“It was good to meet with other business advisors and reassuring that our experience and track record is recognised as being of the highest quality and innovative” says Lynda Chapman, District team Coordinator at SEB “We were able to show our neighbours how we support sustainable businesses in Barnsley that grow from strength to strength”.
