SOCIAL ENTERPRISE BARNSLEY REACHES OUT TO THE DEARNE
Social Enterprise Barnsley (SEB) will shortly be opening a pivotal support centre in Goldthorpe, offering support and advise to new and existing social enterprises in the district.
Established in 1999, Barnsley Development Agencys Social Enterprise Barnsley team, has played an integral part in the launch of 26 Social Enterprises in Barnsley in sectors such as childcare, recycling, construction, credit unions to name but a few. SEBs central office at Beevor Court will continue operating as normal, with the new centre allowing the team to focus on enterprises in Goldthorpe and the surrounding district.
The new centre will be managed by Co-ordinator Lynda Chapman supported by Social Enterprise Business Advisors; Peter Lodge, Maureen Bates and Trainee Social Enterprise Business Advisor Rebecca Lane. The team will provide advice and guidance for groups with enterprising ideas in order to stimulate and develop the social economy in Barnsley. Groups can get advice on preparing business plans, help with feasibility studies, support to identify funding and develop marketing plans. Working in partnership with other agencies, the new centre will offer a range of business support services to voluntary and community sector groups.
