LOCAL ENTERPRISE GROWTH INITIATIVE

The Local Enterprise Growth Initiative (LEGI) is a source of Government funding aimed at creating new enterprise through boosting incomes and employment opportunities in the most deprived areas of the UK.

As an area receiving Neighbourhood Renewal Funding, Barnsley is eligible to apply for LEGI and, if successful, funding would be available from January 2007 for three years. The deadline for LEGI funding applications is 14th September.

To strengthen Barnsley’s application for LEGI funding, we would like individuals and organisations in Barnsley to notify us if they have an idea or proposal for enterprise which will benefit Barnsley (in terms of generating entrepreneurial activity, sustainable growth and employment opportunities) through LEGI funding. This information will be used within Barnsley’s LEGI application to demonstrate how enterprise can be stimulated in Barnsley.

If you have a proposal or idea for enterprise, please complete and return the Stage One Notification of Interest (SONI) Form below. It is essential that you read the SONI Briefing Paper (also below) before completing the form as this offers more detailed guidance on LEGI criteria and Barnsley’s priorities.

The closing date for forms is Friday 28th July 2006.
