Expanding company, Abode Home Products Ltd, is relocating its warehouse and offices to Zenith Business Park in Barnsley to accommodate their sustained long-term growth and future development plans.

Abode design and distribute top quality designer kitchen taps and mixers for the UK market, their impressive client base including companies such as John Lewis Partnership, MFI / Howdens Joinery and Symphony Group Plc.

The company has experienced spectacular growth since they started trading in 2002 due to continual re-investment and development. Since their launch, Abode has pioneered the introduction of contemporary style kitchen mixertaps in the UK, along with innovative filtered water taps and most recently, unique mixertaps manufactured from stainless steel offering a more hygienic tap option in the kitchen.

Currntly based in Wakefield, Abode has grown from strength to strength, outperforming all initial sales forecasts in terms of both volume and value. They have established a very strong and increasing market share in what has become a highly competitive market. This success is a result of fresh and innovative thinking together with a fully customer orientated approach by offering excellent product quality and exclusive design at affordable prices. This ideology is fully supported through harmonised relationships with suppliers, distinctive marketing initiatives, efficient distribution and a comprehensive aftersales procedure.

Abode’s current premises in Wakefield have proved unable to support the company’s rapid growth. As a result Barnsley Development Agency assisted the company in their search for new premises and helped identify the 7,500 sq. ft warehouse unit at Zenith Business Park. The company’s expansion has also been supported by Business Link South Yorkshire through the Invest for Growth programme.

The move, planned to take place at the end of June, will allow up to three times the stock holding capacity than that of the current premises. The new unit at Zenith will also accommodate the setting up of a showroom and training area together with an R&D and test laboratory. This will provide the technical team with the space and facilities to create, test and develop new products and enable the company to expand into new UK and export markets.

Abode currently has 10 per cent of its market with a turnover approaching £4 million. With intentions to double their business in the next three years, this will also see the expansion of the company’s workforce. Currently employing a team of six, the company predict the recruitment of new staff in the areas of product design, sales and marketing, logistics and customer service.

Darren Holliday, Director at Abode Home Products, commented, “The reason we chose Barnsley and the unit at Zenith is that it provides a well designed, prestige and cost effective development in an excellent location, just two miles from M1 J38. There is also a large labour pool which we will require in order to expand.”

Angela Pedley, Business Development Officer at BDA, added, “We are pleased to welcome Abode Home Products to Barnsley and feel that their new premises at Zenith Business Park provide the ideal location from which the company can continue to develop and further expand all areas of the business. We look forward to working with them and offering them our continued support.”
