Property developer, Henry Davidson Developments Ltd, has recently been granted planning permission for a high quality speculative industrial development between Oxspring and Penistone in South Yorkshire. The new development, which is to be constructed on the former railway sidings at Oxspring, will comprise 6 industrial units of various sizes, totalling an area of 22,000 sq. ft. for B1, B2 and B8 use. Located approximately 4 miles from the M1 junction 37, the site enjoys a pleasant rural location whilst still being in close proximity to the main A628 Woodhead Road, providing easy access to Barnsley Town Centre, Manchester and Sheffield. Four units, totalling 17,000 sq. ft., have been pre-sold to a Bradford based Investor, Marrtree Ltd. Units 1 and 2, totalling 8000 sq. ft., will be available for lease either as a whole or they are sub-divisible to form two 4000 sq. ft. units. Similarly, units 3 and 4, totalling 9000 sq. ft., will be available for lease either as a whole or sub-divisible to form two 4500 sq. ft. units. Each of the units will include office space, service yard and car parking facilities. Units 5 and 6 have not been pre-sold and are for sale on a freehold basis. They comprise one building of 5000 sq. ft. sub-divisible into two industrial units of 2,500 sq ft each including office space, dedicated car parking and a shared service yard on approximately one acre of land. Work on the new development commenced at the beginning of May 2005 with an expected completion and availability in late Autumn 2005. Such developments will lead to the welcome creation of further job opportunities in the borough. Barnsley Development Agency is working with both Marrtree Ltd and Henry Davidson Developments to secure suitable occupiers and/or purchasers for the units. Ann Glews, Business Development Officer at BDA commented, “We are looking forward to working with Marrtree Ltd and Henry Davidson Developments on the development of this project and helping to create valuable opportunities for local businesses.” James Measures, Associate Director of Henry Davidson Developments, said “Henry Davidson Developments is proud to be involved in a project which will provide much needed employment units in the area securing important local job opportunities”.
