| The largest Independent UK manufacturer of state of the art fire safety systems, Advanced Electronics Ltd, has recently been named ‘Best New Exporter’ at the prestigious Fire Industry Confederation (FIC) awards.

The company also source and supply system components and if necessary, design and manufacture bespoke products and solutions to meet customer’s specific requirements. Barnsley is home to the company’s Research and Development Team and has become an engineering ‘Centre for Excellence’. Through on-going investment in technology, facilities, equipment and staff development Advanced Electronics has experienced rapid growth and are now a significant global player with customers in 21 countries throughout Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. They continue to grow and aim to become the largest manufacturer of its type in Europe by the end of 2005. With support from Barnsley Development Agency (BDA), Advanced Electronics has received an Objective 1 Trade Exhibition Grant. This contributed £5000 to the cost of exhibiting at International Fire Expo 2005 – the premier biannual exhibition for World manufacturers of fire and safety equipment – held at Birmingham NEC in May. The exhibition proved a huge success and attracted visitors from all over the world. The company’s achievements to date were recognised and rewarded with the ‘Best New Exporter’ award. As a result of attending the exhibition Advanced Electronics are predicting the creation of two new jobs in Barnsley and increasing there export sales to 25% in the coming year. In addition, the company has already secured a new customer in Romania as a direct result of the exhibition. Ian Thompson, Sales Director at Advanced Electronics, commented, “We are extremely grateful to BDA for facilitating the Trade Exhibition Grant and look forward to working together in the future.
